‘We Became’

A study of human identity. We, ”choose” who we are and present that to the world through our clothing, gesture posture, and adornment. The patterns recognized and seen by the viewer- the digester of this information- are patters that allow us to communicate our identity, and for it be received. They are notations,  excerpts,  from our life that we have carefully chosen or have just stuck to us, a dance of nuance communication. My work plays with these intricacies, and examines the patterns of human communication characterization.

The process often begins with photography - taken or found, and is collaged and reworked using watered-down acrylic paint, pencil, and charcoal. Using cropped compositions, and saturated fields of color, this collection examine identity though juxtaposition with text, playing with human characterization.
